I have been working in sales in traditional printing-related industries for ten years, and started to be involved in digital printing business in 2012. Now he is responsible for operations in a cultural media company.
When I was in the sixth grade of elementary school, I first came across BASIC during extracurricular time and I was immediately hooked. When I was in the second grade of junior high school, my family bought me my first 286 computer with a black and white monitor and a large floppy disk. Later, I spent a lot of money to add a 100 MB hard drive. During the holidays, I stayed at home and wrote crazy BASIC games and played Romance of the Three Kingdoms. When I was in high school, I watched Age of Discovery, Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV, Legend of Sword and Fairy, PCTOOLS, MUD, and Red Alert, which brought me so much happiness.
In college, I taught myself Delphi and PHP in my spare time. I also wrote a graduation thesis for my classmates in the computer department. After graduation, I briefly worked in an advertising company to write a PHP website for a year. Later, he was recalled by his mother and went to work in sales at a printing company. (Because I majored in international trade at university, my family felt that going to school to do sales and calculations would be useful.) From then on, my life path changed, and I was no longer in the IT industry.
Programming slowly turned into a hobby, and I taught myself Python and JavaScript. The level is very poor, barely enough for entry level. The good thing is that people who know me think that I am very good at repairing computers. If you have any computer problems, I can almost solve them instantly, which also satisfies my little vanity. The self-taught programming knowledge can also be used to solve some simple problems at work. When doing digital printing, the company website was developed using Flask, and it is still running steadily. I fully exerted my subjective initiative during development. If I didn’t know how, I would search online or ask in user groups. From front-end to back-end, from development to deployment, I worked hard every day and felt very happy! It took more than a month to launch the website, and the leaders were very satisfied. At that time, I thought maybe programmers in IT companies were like this. Later, a friend who worked in IT said to me, “You are much better than those in our company.” This sentence meant so much to me.
As I grow older and enter middle age, I no longer have the enthusiasm for self-study that I had when I was young. But I feel a little unwilling to do so. I think I should stick to writing something, whether it is code or an article. At least it’s to commemorate my lost youth…
